GeoChallenge

Introduction

Welcome to the GeoChallenge!

This is the first unit I ever created, many years ago. I was teaching 9th grade Geography, and I wanted my students to memorize the countries, so I started making map quizzes.

A few years later, I discovered Seterra, the online geography game, and I realized that Seterra is a far better way to memorize the countries, so I mostly stopped using the quizzes in this unit. But I did keep the files on my computer, and later, I used these files to create a comprehensive test called the GeoChallenge. It's basically just a really hard test—100 questions randomly selected from the quizzes in this unit. And to help students prepare for this test, I put all these old lessons back online.

My recommendation is this: If you haven't already done the Seterra unit, start there. Use Seterra to memorize the countries and the 50 U.S. states. Then come back to this unit. You'll find that—having already memorized many different maps—the quizzes in this unit will mostly be "easy points".

When you're finished, take the GeoChallenge. You'll earn a bunch more points, and you may just win a trophy!

Good luck!
