Starting a Sentence with a Prepositional Phrase
When you start a sentence with a prepositional phrase, it is common to put a comma between the prepositional phrase and the main clause, like this:
- In the morning, I called my boss.
Do not use a semicolon in these situations; semicolons are only used to separate clauses, like this:
- I got up; I called my boss.
