Introduction

This unit is based on the book Take Five Minutes: Fascinating Facts about Geography by Ruth Foster. Hence, I've called this unit Fascinating Facts.

The book is divided into 140 chapters, and each chapter is devoted to a different country of the world. The chapters are short (about one page each), and each provides a nice variety of "fascinating facts" about the country's

• Politics
• Geography
• Culture
• Flora and Fauna (Plants and Animals)

It's a great way to learn about the world, one country at a time!

How We Use This Text

Basically, we're going to use our imaginations, like this:

1. Pick a country (any country).
2. Read the chapter devoted to that country.
3. Now imagine that you are visiting that country.
4. Write a letter home to a friend, describing your experiences in that country.
