Counting Words
In the previous lesson, you wrote a blog post about yourself. In this lesson, you're going to verify that you wrote enough words to earn an A+.
Lesson Steps
- Open your writing portfolio.
- Select (highlight) the paragraphs that you wrote for "About Me".
- Go to Tools and select Word Count.
- Make a mental note of the number of words that you wrote.
- Do not confuse Word Count with Character Count. It's the Word Count that's important.
- The next question we need to answer is this:
- Did you write enough?
- The minimum word count for this assignment was 100 words. Therefore . . .
- If you wrote 100 words or more, you're okay. You're going to earn an A+ for this assignment.
- If you wrote less than 100 words, you didn't write enough to earn an A+. If that's the case, now is your chance to write more:
- Can you add a few more details?
- Can you add a few more sentences?
Key Point: Each time I give you a writing assignment, I'm also going to give you a minimum word count. This is the minimum number of words that I expect you to write. To earn an A+ for any writing assignment, make sure that you always meet the minimum word count. |
