Your Blog Should Be Non-Fiction

Fiction refers to "made up" stories (stories that come from the author's imagination).

The opposite of fiction is non-fiction (writing that's based on true facts and the real world).

If you like to write fiction, that's great! However, fiction does not belong in your blog.

Your blog should be non-fiction, and that means that the things you write should be true.

Of course, later in this course, you will also write pieces of fiction, and if you want, you can also post these pieces on your website (if you eventually choose to build one). But keep those pieces separate from your blog. Save your blog page for anecdotes about you and your interests. (An anecdote is a short story about a real incident or person).

Key Point:

Blogging (and other forms of personal writing) are forms of non-fiction. Whatever you write in your blog should be true.
