Course Description
This course covers the Common Core Standards for English Language Arts. Major units include:

Your grade is based on a fraction:

Greater than 90% | A |
80–89% | B |

Less than 60% | F |
Homework
I give about 30 minutes of homework, 5 days per week.
With few exceptions, the homework is always the same:
- Typing Club (4 lessons).
- Independent reading (10 pages).
- Finish any classwork that you didn't finish in class.
Late Work
I accept late work until the last week of the grading period.
Materials
Bring the following things to class with you every day:
- Your English folder (with your Reading Log and Lesson List).
- A computer mouse. (Recommended but not required)
- Whatever book you are currently reading (for independent reading).
Rules
1 | Raise your hand. Don't talk out of turn. |
2 | Treat others with courtesy. |
3 | No cell phones, iPads, or other electronic devices. |
4 | No eating, gum, candy, or drinking (except water). |
5 | No computer games. |
6 | Stay in your seat. |
7 | Never throw anything. Clean up your own mess. |
8 | Don't leave before the bell. |
9 | Don't sit behind the teacher's desk. |
10 | Follow the teacher's instructions. |
Citizenship
Citizenship grades are based on your behavior. A "U" for citizenship may affect your ability to participate in certain school activities (dances, sports, field trips, etc.).
E = Excellent |
S = Satisfactory |
W = Warning |
U = Unsatisfactory |
Hall Passes
- Students must sign out of class.
- One person at a time.
